A blackhead is formed once the pores opens for the skin surface and the oil containing the skin pigment melanin is oxidized and turns brown or black in color. If the follicle wall is ruptured, this may increase the risk for formation of inflammatory acne for example papules, pustules, nodules and cysts. For the majority of adults, acne breakouts are mostly situated on the lower area of the face and chin while for those teenagers it will always be on the upper side with the face.
